Simply Spotless: How One Jefferson County Mom Turned Setback Into Opportunity
By The Jefferson Review

For Chelsi Doolittle, the end of 2025 didn’t go as planned. After ten years in a corporate role, she was laid off just after Christmas. The timing made it even harder. What should have been a season of celebration quickly turned into uncertainty.

She allowed herself time to feel it.

“I was heartbroken… It was scary to lose that income.”

But after a week of processing what had happened, something shifted. Instead of rushing back into another traditional job, Doolittle began to think about what she already had.

Skills. Work ethic. A vision for how she wanted her life to look.

And from that moment, Simply Spotless by Chelsi was born.

Building a Business Around Real Life

Doolittle is not just a business owner. She’s also a mom of two and owns and operates a farm. The transition into entrepreneurship didn’t simplify her schedule overnight. In many ways, it made it more complex.

“It has been a challenge,” she said.

Where she once worked from home in a structured corporate environment, she now has to intentionally manage her time to balance home life, farm responsibilities, and client work.

But through the adjustment, one thing has stood out: support.

Friends, family, and clients have rallied around her, helping her build something new from the ground up.

More Than Just Cleaning

For Doolittle, cleaning isn’t just a task. It’s something she’s always naturally gravitated toward.

As the oldest sibling, responsibility came early. Combined with experiences from motherhood, farm life, and past jobs, those habits turned into a skillset she genuinely enjoys using.

“It’s fun for me,” she said. She enjoys being a part of other people’s journey to get where they want to be.

That mindset shows up in how she approaches her work. Every home is different, and she builds her services around that.

Some clients want regular cleanings with additional monthly basement cleanings. Others need deep cleans every few months with lighter maintenance in between. Many simply want flexibility.

What matters most to Doolittle is communication and delivering a result that feels right.

Taking Something Off the Plate

One of the biggest things Doolittle has noticed since starting her business isn’t about the cleaning itself. It’s about what it gives back to her clients.

Time.
Energy.
Relief.

She sees it especially in families who are already stretched thin.

There’s often a sense of “mom guilt” tied to not keeping up with everything. Hiring help can feel like one more thing to justify.

Doolittle sees it differently.

Instead of spending evenings cleaning or weekends catching up, her clients are able to be present with their families or simply rest.

That shift matters.

The Feeling She Leaves Behind

Many of Doolittle’s clients aren’t home when she finishes a job. But they all share a similar reaction when they walk back in.

Relief.

“It’s so enjoyable,” she said. “They walk in and it’s just… clean.”

That feeling is what she’s really selling. Not just a service, but a reset.

Doolittle knows firsthand how difficult it can be to juggle so many things.

Her experience with Pet, Kid, and Farm dirt, makes her especially qualified to track down the hidden areas that hide life's left over grime.

Services Built Around You

For those who have never hired a cleaning service before, Doolittle offers a wide range of options, including:
  • Deep cleaning
  • Standard home cleaning
  • Recurring residential services
  • Business cleaning
  • Move-in and move-out cleaning
Each plan is customizable, built around the client’s needs, schedule, and priorities.

And for those unsure about committing, she offers a simple starting point.

Try it once.

Even a one-time “catch-up” cleaning can make a difference.

Something of Her Own

For Doolittle, this business is about more than income. It’s about ownership.

“It still feels surreal,” she said. “But I’m so thankful.”

What started as a difficult moment has turned into something meaningful. A business built on hard work, flexibility, and a deep understanding of the lives her clients are living.

And for many families across Jefferson County, that means coming home to something simple.

A space that feels clean.
A moment to breathe.
And one less thing to worry about.
