I would like residents from Festus to know about actions that have taken place because of the anti data center movement.

Our city treasurer was out at a local business and a woman with her two young children walked up to her and said “I know who you are you blank (using a vulgar cuss word) and spat on her.

4 Festus police cars have been keyed. Festus employees cussed at when they are out in public. Our Mayor threatened along with some or all of our council members. I personally had glass bottles thrown into my driveway a couple of days after the vote for the rezoning of the property for a proposed data center. I am on planning and zoning and live in ward 4.

I know there is opposition to this proposal but to be so vile, harmful and disrespectful to anyone who doesn’t agree with no data center is stepping over the line. I have watched some try to belittle our council, mayor and treasurer. They are in their positions because they care about our city and the people. Just because you disagree with their decisions shouldn’t be a factor in some of the anti data group threatening them and their families. Please think how you would want to be treated or spoke to?

Some will say who is she? Well I am a resident of Festus and don’t believe I have ever missed voting in an election. I have served on the Festus park board, city council, chaired the in kind donations for the Festus library, chaired tourism board and am on planning and zoning. Why? Because I love our town and want good things for it and our citizens.

On the side of a data center coming in, imagine what good the income from it can do for our citizens of Festus and our city. Not everyone is against it but with the anger that is being shown do you believe they want to say anything without fear of retaliation.

Sincerely,
Judy Williams
