JEFFERSON REVIEW
THURSDAY EDITION
From the Editor’s Desk
This edition of The Jefferson Review leans a little less into what is broken and a little more into what is being built. Jefferson County still has real challenges, but it also has people stepping forward with ideas, energy, and practical ways to make life better for their neighbors.
This week, we are highlighting the kind of stories that remind us progress does not always arrive through headlines about conflict. Sometimes it looks like a new business opening, a nonprofit turning community support into real help, or a local fire district inviting the public in to build trust through transparency and hands-on experience.
Tanglefoot Dance Hall is bringing music, movement, and new life to Festus Main Street with a venue designed for connection and community.
A recent fundraiser did more than gather the community for a good time. It is now helping fuel meals, relationships, and ongoing care for people across Jefferson County.
This weekend’s open house offers families a chance to see rescue demonstrations, explore equipment up close, and better understand the people who serve their community.
In this week’s Business Spotlight, we share how one Jefferson County mom turned a difficult season into a growing business rooted in trust, consistency, and care.
We also have your weekend forecast, community happenings across the county, and this week’s adoptable pet looking for the right person to bring her home.
County Dispatch
A new chapter is taking shape in Festus, and it’s built on music, movement, and community. Tanglefoot Dance Hall is bringing new life to Main Street with a space designed for dancing, connection, and shared experiences. Blending old-school charm with a fresh vision, this upcoming venue could quickly become a local favorite for nights out and community gatherings.
A local fundraiser brought the community together, but the real story is what happened after. The James II Project is turning that support into meals, relationships, and ongoing care for people across Jefferson County.
It’s not every day you get to see emergency response in action—but this weekend, the Antonia Fire Protection District is opening its doors for a hands-on look at what really happens in a rescue. From live demonstrations to up-close equipment displays, this event is designed to build trust, educate the community, and give families something exciting to experience together.

Adoptable Pet of the Week
This lovely 10-year-old lady is ready to spend her golden years in a calm, caring home. She’s sweet, affectionate, and past the busy kitten stage—perfect for someone looking for a relaxed companion who still loves attention and companionship.
She does well meeting most other cats, but dogs are a firm no for her. Recently, we discovered she is diabetic, which means she’ll need ongoing medication and a dedicated caregiver to keep her healthy and thriving.
Because of this, we’re hoping to find a home with someone experienced in caring for diabetic cats or willing to learn and commit to her needs. Her adoption fee is $135 and includes her spay, combo test, vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick treatment, and microchip.
She has so much love to give and is just waiting for the right person to give her the comfortable, attentive home she deserves.
