Joe Maddock Points to Leadership, Family, and Integrity in Race for Jefferson County Circuit Clerk
Joe Maddock says his campaign for Jefferson County Circuit Clerk is not about seeing his name on a ballot. It is about service, leadership, and restoring confidence in an office that plays an important role in the county’s court system.
For Maddock, the desire to serve Jefferson County starts close to home.
Family and Service
A husband and father of five, Maddock said he and his wife chose Jefferson County as the place where they wanted to raise their family. He said they looked at each other and asked where they wanted to build their life, and “Jefferson County was the clear answer.”
Maddock said that same hope is shared by many families across the county. He wants young families to feel invested in the community and believe Jefferson County is a place worth staying, building, and improving for future generations.
His family background also shaped his view of public service. Maddock’s father served as an Arnold police officer, and Maddock said he grew up with a respect for law enforcement, public safety, and law and order. While he did not follow his father directly into police work, he said service remained important to him.
That path eventually led him into business, community involvement, and politics.
Turning Around the Republican Club
One of Maddock’s most visible leadership roles has been serving as president of the Jefferson County Republican Club for more than three years. During that time, he said the club has seen a major shift in energy, attendance, and culture.
Maddock said he is most proud of the people who now come to the meetings and the energy they bring with them.
“There is a buzz, there is energy in that room,” he said.
He believes the club’s growth came from building a culture where people feel welcomed, valued, and excited to participate. Maddock said he tries to shake hands with people in the room, especially new faces, and ask how the club can serve them.
“It’s not about what they can do for us,” Maddock said. “It’s about what we can do for them.”
That leadership experience, he said, is directly connected to how he would approach the Circuit Clerk’s Office.
A Management Position
Maddock describes the Circuit Clerk’s role as a major management position within the court system. He said the office is responsible for processing paperwork, handling finances properly, and helping manage communication between attorneys, judges, the jail, the sheriff’s department, and other parts of the legal system.
His professional background is in business. Maddock started his first company in 2015 and helped grow it into a sizable insurance brokerage with staff, agents, and partners across multiple states. He later sold his portion of that company and started Maddock Insurance Group, which operates as a consulting company.
Maddock said his business experience has taught him how to lead teams, solve problems, and make sure the right people are in the right places.
Integrity and Leadership
Maddock said one of his goals would be to build a better culture inside the Circuit Clerk’s Office. He praised the employees currently working there and said many are hard-working people who care about the job.
His goal, he said, would be to bring energy, accountability, and leadership from the top.
Maddock also said character matters because the Circuit Clerk’s Office touches serious parts of the justice system. Mistakes in that office can affect real people, real cases, and public trust.
For Maddock, the central issue in the race comes down to one word: integrity.
When voters hear his name, Maddock said he wants them to understand that he is a real person trying to serve the community and solve problems.
Maddock said his campaign is not about personal ambition. It is about doing what is right for his family and for other families across Jefferson County.
