Brief Candidate Biography

David Robertson has been a leader in Missouri's conservative grassroots movement for over 10 years. He was the coordinator for three counties for Bill Eigel's campaign for governor in 2024. He organized the first St. Louis Medical Freedom March in the spring of 2022. David created the We the People of Missouri email distribution list which was used to promote patriotic events and rallies across the state. He has given over 20 speeches at county council and school board meetings protesting unconstitutional COVID mandates. In the fall of 2024 David was hired by Charlie Kirk's Turning Point Organization to knock 1,500 doors for the 2024 presidential election.

David is motivated to run for the Missouri State House out of a frustration with politicians who don’t understand the system of government our Founders gave us, or worse - those who sell out Missourians to special interests and lobbyists while pretending to be conservative.

David is a retired physics and mathematics professor. His father was a World War II veteran (his Dad was 49 when David was born) and a navigator on a B-24 bomber who was shot down and spent 8 months in a German prison camp.

Why are you running for this office?

I am running for State House District 97 to 1) restore the Founding Fathers' vision of limited government to Missouri, government whose sole purpose is to protect the inalienable rights of the people, which come from God and 2) return government to serving the interests of the citizens, not special interests and lobbyists. Government is doing way too many things it was never intended to do and I will do all I can to put government back into it's proper purview.

What experience best prepares you to serve in this role?

I have been a leader in Missouri's conservative grassroots movement for over 10 years. I worked for two governor campaigns. I organized the first St. Louis Medical Freedom March in the spring of 2022 and created the We the People of Missouri email distribution list which was used to promote patriotic events and rallies across Missouri. In the fall of 2024 I was hired by Charlie Kirk's Turning Point Organization to knock 1,500 doors for the 2024 Presidential Election. My training in mathematics and physics has given me the ability to quickly determine the root causes of a problem and identify inefficiencies in programs and processes. My experience as a landlord has given me an understanding of the business world and real estate market.

What do you believe is the most important issue facing Jefferson County right now?

Ethical behavior in our elected officials and government transparency.

How would you balance the needs of your district with broader statewide legislative priorities?

Hold regular town hall meetings to discuss the needs of the residents of my district.

What specific legislation would you like to sponsor or support during your first term or next term?

Cut taxes and slash Missouri's bloated budget (MO budget has more than doubled in the last 10 years) Secure our elections by cleaning up voter rolls, returning to hand-counted paper ballots and eliminating voting machines

Stop the chemical spraying of our skies

Ban out-of-state money from Missouri's initiative petition process

Return to single subject bills, which is a requirement of the Missouri Constitution Remove DEI and CRT from the schools Protect medical freedom - no mandates, honor religious exemptions

Protect your right to bear arms without restrictions

Defend Life - life begins at conception

Return control of education to parents

How should Missouri address rising costs for families and seniors, including housing, utilities, groceries, insurance, and taxes?

Slash Missouri's bloated budget and cut taxes (less government requires less tax). Undo the utility bill (Senate Bill 4) which is projected to raise utilities by over $1,000 per Missouri household. Ban Black Rock and other massive investment companies from buying up residential housing, which is driving up housing costs and preventing young people from buying homes.

What role should state government play in supporting public safety, law enforcement, and crime victims?

No was answer provided by the candidate.

How would you protect local control while also ensuring state laws are applied fairly across Missouri?

No was answer provided by the candidate.

What are your views on school choice legislation in Missouri?

What transportation, road, or infrastructure concerns in Jefferson County should receive more attention from the state?

Would you support legislation for a taxpayer Bill of Rights? Why or why not?

No was answer provided by the candidate.

Do you support or oppose Right to Work legislation in Missouri? Why?

No was answer provided by the candidate.

What is your opinion on work requirements for Medicaid or other public assistance programs?

No was answer provided by the candidate.

How will you stay accessible and accountable to constituents after the election?

Hold a town hall every 6 months. Return all phone calls and emails of constituents. Send out newsletter updates on legislation.

Why should voters choose you for this role?

Voters should choose me for this role because I am not controlled by PACs, lobbyists, and special interests in Jefferson City. They should choose me because I believe in restoring limited government based off of our Founding Fathers' vision of government. They should choose me because I will honor the Constitution.
