Why are you running for this office?

I want to make sure our elections are always free and fair and never compromised. Our elections are how we the people control our government. Without that right, we would not be free. Every election in Jefferson County is handled through the office of the Jefferson County Clerk. If we don't have honest people of high integrity running our elections, we risk losing our voice. We cannot have someone who has been convicted of felony election campaign embezzlement running our elections. The citizens deserve honest people representing our voice.

What experience best prepares you to serve in this role?

Serving as a Jefferson County election judge, assistant supervisor judge and service on the Jefferson County Verification Board has provided me with direct experience in the election process and has reinforced the importance of accuracy, transparency, and public trust. My business management education, lifelong involvement in the community, leadership experience, and commitment to the public has prepared me to manage the County Clerk's Office responsibly and ensure elections and County records are handled with integrity and accountability.

What is the most important issue facing Jefferson County right now?

I believe the most important issue facing Jefferson County is restoring public trust in government. Too many citizens have lost confidence in County government due to concerns about transparency, accountability, and the perception that political interests sometimes take priority over the public interest. Whether those concerns involve elections, spending decisions, public services, or County leadership, they deserve to be taken seriously. The solution is not more promises, it's honest leadership, open government, and accountability. As County Clerk, I will focus on transparency, election integrity, and ensuring that the public can have confidence that their government is working for them.

What is one specific thing you would like to accomplish during your term?

One specific thing I would like to accomplish during my term is strengthening public confidence in Jefferson County elections. Every voter should know that their vote matters, their vote will be counted, and their vote is protected. By promoting transparency, ensuring strict adherence to election laws, and maintaining high standards of integrity within the Clerk's Office, I hope to leave Jefferson County with greater trust in our election process than when I took office.

How would you describe your approach to serving taxpayers?

Taxpayers deserve a government that works for them, not the other way around. My approach is to serve with integrity, transparency, and accountability while treating every citizen with respect. I will work to ensure the County Clerk's Office operates efficiently, follows the law, spends taxpayer resources responsibly, and remains focused on serving the people of Jefferson County. Government earns trust when it is honest, accessible, and accountable to its citizens.

What experience prepares you to serve as county clerk?

My experience as a Jefferson County election judge and service on the Jefferson County Election Verification Board best prepares me for this role. It has given me firsthand knowledge of the election process and reinforced the importance of accuracy, transparency, and public trust. As a lifelong Jefferson County resident, I understand how important it is that citizens have confidence in our elections.

How would you ensure elections are secure, accurate, and trusted by the public?

I would ensure elections are secure, accurate, and trusted by the public by following election laws, maintaining strong safeguards throughout the voting process, and promoting transparency at every step. Public trust is built when elections are conducted openly, professionally, and with integrity.

What can be done to improve voter confidence in local elections?

Voter confidence is strengthened through transparency, accountability, and open communication. Citizens should be able to see and understand how elections are conducted, how ballots are secure and how votes are counted. While good systems are important, public trust ultimately depends on the integrity of those administering the elections.

How should the clerk’s office communicate election deadlines, sample ballots, and voting information?

The Clerk's Office should communicate election information using multiple methods so every voter has access to the information needed. Information including sample ballots, polling locations, and procedures should be made available through the county's website, social media but most importantly direct mailings. Direct mailings can be critical in ensuring important election information reaches voters who may not utilize online resources.

What role should technology play in making public records and election information easier to access?

As someone who values transparency in government, I believe residents should be able to quickly find information on upcoming elections, sample ballots and public records and other important information without any unnecessary barriers. Technology can be used as a tool but not a substitute for honest people of high integrity. Good systems matter but good people matter more.

How would you handle concerns from voters who are skeptical about election processes?

I would listen to their concerns respectfully and take them seriously. The Clerk's Office should be willing to explain election procedures, answer questions, and provide accurate information about how ballots are secured and counted.

What is one improvement you would make to the clerk’s office?

One improvement I would make to the Clerk's Office is strengthening security. As a Jefferson County election judge, I understand how important it is for citizens to have confidence that elections and county records are protected. I would focus on strict adherence to the law, and accountability at every step of the way.

Do you support hand counting all ballots? Why or why not?

Hand counting ballots is not a new concept, it has been used since the earliest days of our Republic. Hand counting would allow Democrats and Republicans to work together to verify votes in full view of one another helping ensure accuracy and build public trust in the results. However, Jefferson County currently does not have the resources or manpower necessary to efficiently hand count every ballot and report the results in a timely manner. While I would prefer hand counting, we must be practical. We will continue using voting machines by utilizing strong safeguards and having honest people of high integrity running them.

Why should voters choose you?

As an election judge and lifelong resident of Jefferson County, I understand the importance of public trust and the critical role the Clerk's Office plays in our elections and county government. I am committed to secure elections, transparent government, and serving every citizen fairly and professionally. My goal is to ensure voters can have confidence that their government is working for them and that their vote matters, their vote will be counted, and their vote is protected.
